 | Subject: Let's Make a Manga Library Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:15 pm | |
| Greetings! Himegami here. Earlier today, my friend asked me if Toujin has any Manga Library, but, correct me if I'm wrong, it doesn't seem that we have one. So she, also a fellow toujin member, out of shyness, asked me if I could propose to you guys in her stead, to make our own Manga Library. So here I am proposing such a good idea. As far as some of you know, onemanga has finally been sued by copyright issues. A few threads and news I've seen online tells me that copyright issue attacks will also try to bring down other free manga sites such as mangafox, mangashare and etc. But as my friends over the net kept telling me, this is crap. They won't be able to bring down all freemanga sites because of the great demand of readers. But the only problem we, the readers, will be encountering is that their may come a time that most manga will not be available over the net for a brief time because of these copyright attacks. These manga will only then be available if someone tries to be deviant and make a new free manga website like onemanga, mangafox, etc. or hopefully, we can download it from scanlators or from torrent sites. * LOL, Limewire: google this and press I'm feeling lucky.* The proposal however, proposes a different way of solving this issue. We should start downloading soft copies of manga and compile it to, maybe DVD's, and make a Manga Library that will be solely for our use. This will eliminate the use of the net to read our manga and ensures us that we can access these manga almost whenever we want, and also through his method, we can share manga with ease. Though there is only one thing that this method doesn't cover, and that is new releases. [Edit: August 2, 2010] - alizea_hero is currently downloading random manga. - himegaminyaa claims K-ON! [Edit: August 3, 2010] - alizea_hero has these to offer: 1/2 Prince, Gakuen Alice, Angel Sanctuary, Bakuman, Bleach, Boku ni Natta Watashi, CASE CLOSED!!, Chibi Vampire, D. Gray-Man, D.N. Angel, UFO Baby, Fairy Tail, Fate/Stay Night, Hana ni Arashi, FMA, GTO, Hajime no Ippo, History's Strongest Disciple, Hunter x Hunter, Ichigo 100%, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, The World God only knows, Reborn, Kekkaishi, Kimi ni Todoke, Liar Game, Negima, Naruto, One piece, The One, Orange Chocolate, PoT, Psyren, Rave, Record of Fallen Vampire, Rosario+Vampire, Rosario+ Vampire II, Until death do us part, Vampire Knight, Veritas, xxxHolic, Yakitate! Japan, and Yu yu Hakusho. - himegaminyaa has these to offer: Chrno Crusade , Apocalypse Meow, Azumanga Daioh, Battle Royale, Touhou Project Doujinshi [Angle Type: Together with Dog Sakuya, Dog Sakuya, Good Girl Remilia Theatre, Magical Maid Magical Sakuyan, A Chaconne in the Mist, Nightbug and Flowerland, Then Break Through the Night, Gourmet Sakuya], and Welcome to the N.H.K. //all are complete - Mamio has these to offer: Shoujo Sect [complete], Maka Maka [complete], Touhou: Inaba of the Earth, and Inaba of the Moon [complete]. - neko11lover has these to offer: 20th Century Boys [complete], Eyeshield21 [complete], Hikaru no Go [complete], and Rurouni Kenshin [downloading]. [Edit: August 8, 2010] - himegaminyaa has these to offer: Angel Densetsu, Doubt, and Love Hina. Note #1: Of course, if you really support a particular manga, then buy it if you have the money. I am not denying that this looks piracy to some people, but at least there is no cash involved. * So I suck at grammar... got any problems with that? XD* Note #2: Refrain from asking/posting questions here. If you have some important question/s, contact me through ym!. Account: nobody_heartless2009@yahoo.com Note #3: To find a certain manga in the list, just use "ctrl+f." <--* I like the jiggling emoticon*

| I think this is a good idea, although I'm wondering --- where will we keep it wherein everyone can access it anytime they want?
I think I can contribute a good number of series if this will push through o/ |

| | Quote: | | DVD-R's won't be a problem though. They're like 7 pesos per CD which can store 4.7gb. That's already a big space. |
*nod nod* I agree. (Although I just use CD-Rs since I'd like one series = 1 CD) XD And the locker-combination thing is also a pretty good idea. And maybe a log-in book to record who has what (obvious point is obvious - I should just shut up when I'm not being helpful hahaha)
I wonder if the Admins would like this idea? Although personally, I find this to be great o/ albeit a further promotion of piracy XD still - let's support that mangaka by buying the actual published manga when we can~ o/

I was thinking of just putting the log book here at the forums to save trees but, oh well. XD
Yeah, it's up to our amazing admins if they approve of this idea or even if they would ever read this thread. On another note, we can't deny that this is piracy, but even photocopying, a ritual we do almost at least every week, is piracy itself. Even watching fansubs, reading online *which was like, the root of this idea*, torrenting, etc, and the list goes on. *Actually, the act of piracy, for me, only applies if you buy pirated work.*

Ahaha, I guess it just came to me that an actual log book there would prevent members from forgetting. XD Like if they need to go online to list, they might have a higher tendency to forget (or something XD) Or maybe it's just me. /has a bad memory

So painfully true. I'm ashamed to admit this, but when I was younger, I had no idea that fansubs were supposed to be free. Hence my huge collection of Comic Alley stuff. And I'm more ashamed to admit that up to now, even after the enlightenment, when I feel too lazy to download, I just buy, as well. (To console myself, I just think of it as paying for the 'burners'' effort OTL)
I wish the best for this proposal \o>

I also have OSM hair. Remember me in the Filipino 11 class?
Anyways, thanks for reading this thread, and for relaying this to the awesome superiors.

I think I do remember you from the Fil11 class. XD
I think the only problem is where we could stash the pirated manga. If only we had an org room We'll work something out. |
Cool. So I really left an impression to my previous classmates. XD
Wasn't this covered in this thread? I mean how we will stash it?
Proposal for stashing: We shall rent next semester, our own locker, where we can store all these media files in DVD-R format. The lock we will use will be a combination lock, so that we can freely access the stash. And finally, we will leave a logbook inside the locker, so that we know who took a certain copy of a certain "pirated" manga.
As for now, if ever this idea becomes effective, I suggest that we start downloading some manga.
